Dr. William (Bill) Henry Knapp II, 73, of Algoma, Wisconsin was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 23, 2026, while at home, surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 16, 1952, to William Henry Knapp and Joann Lillian Knapp, Bill was raised in Evergreen Park, Illinois where he attended St. Bernadette and Evergreen Park High School. He then completed his path to dentistry at Indiana University and Loyola University School of Dentistry. In addition to being a dentist, Bill was a devoted husband, father, step-father, and grandfather.
Bill was so loved by many and was known for his generous spirit, strong work ethic, chivalrous nature, and his humor. Bill shared with others many passions, including: music, scuba diving, photography, camping, fishing, boating, hiking, windsurfing, reading, woodworking, painting and playing cards and games. Bill was raised in the Catholic Church, but went through decades of studying theology. He recently returned to Catholicism, and used his journey as a way to share with others his story of how God saved him. Bill would often wear shirts and hats with Biblical messages, read his Bible, discuss Christianity with others, and play Bible trivia (that he always won!).
Bill is survived by his wife, Christine (Lily), whom he married in 1994, and they created a beautiful blended family of nine children. He is also survived by his daughters, Christiana (Michael) Bevier, Juliana (Butch) Zemar; his grandchildren, William IV, Nate, Aida, Caleb, Colin, Joshua, Josiah, and Lianna; his stepchildren, who he loved as his own, David (Irene) Murphy, Jennifer (Brooklyn) Murphy, Jesse (Sharon) Murphy, Kevin (Erin) Murphy, Kate Murphy, and Taylor (Liz) Porter; and his step-grandchildren, Kayla, Deja, Jasmyn, Mimi, Skyler, Justin, Cillian, Amari, Shaelin, Johnny, Ryen, Minnie, Kai, Mariah; his siblings, Susan (Steve) Szoke and Marti (Charlie) Cross; his step-nephew/niece, Nick and Ashley Toltzman; and many dear friends. Bill was preceded in death and reunited in heaven with his beloved son, William Henry Knapp III, his loving parents, and his adored step-grandson, Jonnie Gonzalez.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church 1406 Main Street, Luxemburg, WI from 9:00 am to 10:45 am with funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
